The UCR Stem Cell Core Facility
The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) has provided funding for the establishment and operation of our Stem Cell Core Facility at UCR for seven years. The Core supports stem cell research at UCR and other Inland Empire Universities.
The Core is managed by a PhD level stem cell scientist who has staff support. Users are able to obtain samples of human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells from the Core and are also able to perform experiments and analyze data in the Core. In addition to providing cell culture rooms, the core has a flow cytometer, PCR equipment, microscopes, BioStation CT and IM, and other supporting instruments. This Core facility also provides assigned laboratory space for conducting stem cell research.
The Core offers hands-on training to students and faculty who want to learn stem cell culture. We also provide training on all equipment in the Core.
The Core provides research facilities for our CIRM Bridges Interns from the Inland Empire and beyond and offers a week long course for them in pluripotent stem cell culture.
The Stem Cell Core Facility is located adjacent to other UCR Core Facilities in Genomics, Imaging, Bioinformatics, and Proteomics.
